Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy New Year

It is hard to believe that it is now 2012. I hope all my readers had a wonderful Christmas holiday and that the New Year celebrations all went well.

Christmas was spent at home, with my brother Kevin and sister-in-law Jill spending time with us before travelling onto New Zealand. Between Christmas and New Year, we spent time with Rob and Melinda in Port Stephens - sailing - which was wonderful. Then New Year was in the City of Sydney to see the fireworks. The 9pm were seen from the Cahill Expressway road (special tickets as they blocked the road for the evening) and midnight from Circular Quay (where we could only really see the Sydney Harbour Bridge!)

A very relaxing ten days off work and to return as Dean of the UWS Law School for our Courses Decision Day on 3rd January. AS a lot of people return to work, the sunshine has come out in its full glory and temps hit 40c! Thank goodness for air conditioning....

  1. Thank you kindly.

Excellent to read that things have been good for you and your famiy over Christmas-New Year.

Your observation about the New Year’s arrival is interesting Michael.

Perspective and viewpoint are always unique, aren't they? While some people express amazement at the "swift" arrival of 2012 and a "year's passing so quickly", others have felt the year 2011 was a tad "too long". For them it seems the previous Christmas was a seeming decade ago.

But as someone in history once said in a rational moment, “A man's measured not only by what he does but by the way he rises from a challenge.” Or something like that. I'm paraphrasing of course.

May we all keep rising from as well as to our challenges through 2012.
